Mushroom Magic is a 2-part interactive arts and film screening event, held on 3rd January at ONEONESIX. Anyone is welcome to join us for one portion or to stay for both!
Part 1, 1-4pm: Interactive arts activities and a short film, no ticket necessary, offered free to all with support from Creative Communities Whangārei.
Create some forest magic with creative activities such as native seed bombs, paper snails, stop motion film experimentation, coloring in, and moldable plastic sculpting. We’ll also be sharing a film short, Quest for the Best, about a spirit snail’s journey through the forests around Whangārei. All ages welcome, humans aged 6 to adult will likely get the most out of it.
Part 2, 4:30-7:30pm: Second annual screening of Fungi Film Fest short films. Tickets $10 or $15 plus fees from Eventfinda.

Fungi Film Fest Whangārei (FFFWh) is our very own screening of the world’s only film festival dedicated to the beauty, otherworldliness, and human influences of mushrooms, lichens, and micro fungi. Each year brings a different mix of films, with this year's program hosting 14 short films from 8 countries at about 125 minutes of run time. Our screening will also include a bonus screening of a local submission which didn't quite make the cut for the official film set. The films are all ages, but the recommended age for the films is 10 to 100. Our delightful intermission will offer you tasty mushroom treats and the opportunity to meet other fungus fans!
